2024 Milestones | 1 Jan 2025

Jan 2, 2025
Thanks for your support; coming along for the ride, following us on socials, drinking and purchasing some cool climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Cabernet Franc.

We finally launched our brand and website, released our first vintage of commercial quantities, picked up a couple of medals and have almost sold out of our 2023 collection. We continue to learn more and more about how our beautiful vineyard and our 25+ year old vines respond to and what they can produce in this maritime climate on sandy clay soils.

In the vineyard, we pressed on restoring and regenerating our land, planting more cover crops, another 8 rows of Pinot Noir, mothering new vines and eliminating more herbicides and synthetic chemicals. Obtaining Sustainable Winegrowing Australia certification was an important step towards our goal for carbon neutrality.

Across the rest of the farm, we reserved a further 4 hectares for biodiversity, increasing it to 23% of the farm area, established a negative baseline CO2 emissions level through sustainability initiatives and started the planning process for a home on the site.

There have been plenty of challenges too. A lack of water and dry, windy conditions has made establishing our new Chardonnay and Pinot blocks a real challenge. We will need to replant at least half of it. Grafting Merlot and Malbec to Chardonnay was a bit of a bust too. Lambing was traumatic with only around 50 newborns surviving. We learn from all of it and will improve in future years.

We are excited that our 2024 vintage release is just around the corner with bottling to be started in the new year. 28.5 tonnes handpicked over a compressed 3 1/2 weeks with 1,100 cases going to our own label was a massive achievement for the team. We hope you like it!

Thankyou once again and see you in 2025...
xx

John, Steve, Rob, and Kim
